Art installations usuallly privilege sight over the other senses, but with sound waves, sights and sounds come together in surprising ways.

Presented by the Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts and KDHX, sound waves celebrates the diversity of St. Louis through sights and sounds, with a DJ and a performing artist, calling and responding to each other across galleries.

This ongoing series takes place the third Thursday of every month, 6-9 p.m., through January, 2011.

sound waves is presented in conjunction with stylus, a new installation by Ann Hamilton. As described by the Pulitzer, stylus is "structured around live acoustic elements and is comprised of multiple forms of call and response...[with] haunting presences and traces of human gesture and voice."

More information is available at the Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts.
