Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt, Jimmy LaFave, Greg Brown, Butch Hancock, Nanci Griffith -- all are artists I first heard when I tuned in, often with my tape rolling, to Larry's show on KDHX. He played the songs he loved, and I came to love a lot of them as well.
When Larry Weir passed away in January 2010, the KDHX family was in shock and sorrow. We celebrated his life with a quickly organized gathering and concert at Off Broadway just days after his passing. Now KDHX -- led by the noble efforts of Ed Becker and hosting venue, the Sheldon Concert Hall -- is pleased to announce the Larry J. Weir Memorial Concert on Sunday, September 12, 2010.
Many of the artists that Songwriters Showcase introduced to St. Louis-area audiences will perform, including Terry Allen, Katy Moffatt and Andrew Hardin, Fats Kaplin and Kristi Rose, Ben Bedford and former members of the Geyer Street Sheiks. Supe Granda of the Ozark Mountain Daredevils will MC.
Tickets are now on sale at Metrotix and be sure to RSVP at Facebook.
It will be a very memorable night of songs, stories and performances.
