Our website, KDHX.org, offers a great diversity of content. From music reviews to interviews to concert updates to arts reviews and previews, our volunteer writers cover the St. Louis and national arts and music scene with great energy. The volunteer Copy Editor helps to make sure their writing is clear, concise and accurate.

Volunteer copy editors read, correct, format and prep articles for publication. They work closely with our web editors and our writers on a weekly basis.

Goal of Position:

  • To edit and format various articles for publication on the KDHX website.


Sample Activities:

  • Edit, proofread and format copy


Additional/Optional Activities:

  • Fact- and link-checking of articles
  • Basic HTML formatting
  • Work with JPEG, GIF images


Timeframe:

  • Length of commitment: Varies per assignment and skill level
  • Estimated total hours: 3-6 per week


Scheduling:

  • At discretion of volunteer but requires regular availability during the week
  • Deadlines for edited copy will be set by the Web Editor


Worksite: Work from home

Qualifications/Interest Sought (all training will be provided):

  • Strong writing and editing background required
  • Familiarity with AP Style preferred
  • Passion for music, culture and the arts
  • Attention to detail
  • Knowledge of online publishing and basic HTML preferred
  • Ability to make deadlines
  • Flexibility in scheduling
  • Please submit at least three writing samples (related to music, culture or entertainment, if possible) by web link or document attachment
  • Please submit a resume indicating editing and/or journalism experience
