Live Performance Audio Archivist

KDHX's Magnolia Avenue Studios host over 150 live bands every year, and all of those audio recordings creates a lot of data to keep track of. Live Performance Audio Archivists edit audio content into playable CD tracks and mp3 files that can be posted on our website. Audio Archivists at KDHX also make sure all files are properly labelled and are in the right place.

Goal of Position: To handle quality control and post-production data handling for audio materials recorded as live performances (LPs) in our studios and at events.

Sample Activities:

  1. Edit (or review and re-edit) a performance recording into playable CD audio tracks
  2. Convert high-res audio data into mp3 files for posting on our website
  3. Label content (with information gathered in the release form), and upload content to our internal digital library
  4. Create HTML streaming player XML files

Timeframe:

  • Length of commitment: Varies
  • Estimated total hours: 2-4 hours/week

Scheduling:

  • At discretion of volunteer, but ideally during staff hours (9-7 / M-F)

Worksite: KDHX Radio

Qualifications Sought:

  1. Familiarity with iTunes
  2. Digital Editing skills (ProTools or Audacity)
  3. Attention to detail and dedication to precision
