Long Form Talk Show Producer

KDHX talk shows cover a wide array of topics important to St. Louis, from the environment to literature. KDHX is looking for experienced volunteers to help talk show hosts record and edit their weekly shows.

Goal of Position: To assist talk show hosts with all technical aspects of producing their weekly program: recording, editing, burning episode to CD, and converting for web posting.

Sample Activities:

  1. Record hosts with guests in studio or via phone
  2. Mark errors in recording for re-takes
  3. Edit and mix recorded content with music bumpers at head/breaks/tail of program
  4. Create media for playout: CDs for host and guests, mp3 files for web posting

Timeframe:

  • Length of commitment: Varies according to show
  • Estimated total hours: 1-2 hours/week

Scheduling:

  • At discretion of show producer

Worksite: KDHX Radio Studio

Qualifications Sought:

  1. Basic audio recording skills: using mics and mixers
  2. Digital audio editing skills: using ProTools or Audacity
  3. Familiarity with iTunes and Toast for file conversions and CD burning
  4. Interest in talk programming for the radio and local media and culture
