The event brought together many people of all kinds to embrace differences and to experience the sounds and expressions of other cultures, including Brazilian dance and song, Argentinian folk music, Mexican folk dance, Liberian dance, Greek music and more. The Festival of Colors is intended to unify all by the tossing of vibrantly colored powders into the air and onto one another, coating everyone in the same colors.
The event kicked off the St. Louis Cross-Cultural Engagement Campaign, sponosored by Gitana Productions and the Regional Arts Commission, which culminates in the conference "Cross-Cultural Engagement: Building a Diverse and Dynamic Community."
