Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings at the Pageant

All I can say about Sharon Jones is MUST SEE.  But this is also true for all things Daptone, her Brooklyn-based all-analog label making old school new again.  
Sharon and the band taped an Austin City Limits episode in June which is airing this month on PBS.  They are hitting the road with stops in the midwest before heading to Australia – back in the US in time for this year’s Jam Cruise in early January.  Godspeed, Sharon…and Daptone.

Eli Jones at the Gramophone

I just found these younguns – a Chicago soul band who truly seem to be hittin it, featuring horns and singer Stefanie Berecz.   Their upcoming appearances in St. Louis will be accompanied by a live in-studio performance at KDHX, to be aired on The Rhythm Section on the following Tuesday, Dec 16.
