Breaking: New Elvis Perkins album due out March 10

Elvis Perkins made one of the best albums of 2007, and one of the most memorable debuts in recent memory. Ash Wednesday — with its bohemian symbolism, ramshackle folk rock and  a busker’s vocal and harmonical quicksilver — still sounds fresh, accomplished and original. The New Yorker is set to release his second album, Elvis Perkins in Dearland, this spring on XL Recordings. You can stream three songs from the forthcoming album here. He’s picking right up where he left off — and that’s very much all right by me.

I’m looking forward to this. I really liked his debut album — his voice reminds me a lot of Jeff Mangum’s (with maybe a little Thom Yorke thrown in for good measure).
