Marshall Crenshaw May 9 on KDHX Musical Merry-Go-Round

Marshall Crenshaw has been working both on-stage and behind the scenes in the music biz since he was 10. His biggest hit was his classic debut album in 1982, but he’s continued to craft catchy pop for discerning fans ever since. Hear him communicate to a younger generation on Musical Merry-Go-Round on Saturday, May 9 at 9:00 am CST.

Crenshaw has become a “power pop” icon, though he somewhat eschews the term. His career is extensive: He got his start playing John Lennon off-broadway, portrayed Buddy Holly in the film La Bamba, penned the Gin Blossom’s hit “Till I Hear it From You,” and recently was nominated for Grammy for the title track to the film Walk Hard. His sound reflects his past and present, evoking the rhythm structure of Buddy Holly while retaining the storytelling present in “Till I Hear it From You.” Jaggedland, his newest release, offers musings on the state of Crenshaw’s world as it intersects with the world around him. He performed at a house concert in Saint Louis and at Off Broadway on April 2, 2009.
