Join Professor Skank this Saturday night for the Best Reggae of 2012, Positive Vibes style. No countdown, just two hours of the best reggae released in the past year. Most of the music will be from his Top 10 list (found at www.kdhx.org) including tracks from Clinton Fearon, Reemah, Bambu Station, Ras Batch, Rocky Dawuni, Jimmy Cliff, Groundation, U-Roy, Macka B and Mark Wonder, as well as tunes from Stylee Wood, Dubtonic Kru, Midnite, Morgan Heritage and Sierra Leone’s Reggae All Stars. Best of 2012 from 9-11 pm this Saturday night Dec. 29th on “Positive Vibrations.” Check it.
This Saturday night, August 25, Professor Skank will be on the air from 8-11 p.m. Central and will be celebrating 20 years at KDHX with a three-hour skankfest.
JJ Loy will be unable to make “Ska’s the Limit,” so Andrea will continue “Radio Rio” until 8 p.m. (she starts at 5 p.m.), and from there Professor Skank will play the best reggae on the planet from 8-11 p.m.
Get ready to hear back-to-back classics from Bob Marley, Culture, Nasio Fontaine, Israel Vibration, Peter Tosh, Gregory Isaacs, Dennis Brown, Midnite, Zion and much more. There will even be a set paying tribute to the late, great Joe Strummer in honor of what would have been his 60th birthday this past Tuesday.

On New Year’s Eve, Professor Skank will have a Best of 2011, reggae style, on “Positive Vibrations” from 9-11 p.m. Also, Aaron Kamm and the One Drops will play at Broadway Oyster Bar and Mario Pascal will be at Rowan Community Center.
The Wailers Band will be at the Old Rock House on Tuesday Jan. 3rd.
On Positive Vibes Saturday January 7th, Michael Kuelker will have a nyahbinghi-based program of classics and rarities.
And Zion and the Lion Roots Band will headline a benefit concert for Zambia on Saturday January 14th on the campus of Lewis and Clark Community College.
This is an unreleased tune called “Jah Won’t Forsake Me,” recorded live at Club Viva by Glenda Roots during the Skank Records’ “Crying For Freedom” cd-release party on Sept. 14, 2011. Crucial tune. Zion and The Lion Roots Band rock.

Zion and the Lion Roots Band will perform at Club Viva on Wednesday September 14th in support of the latest disc on Skank Records, “Crying For Freedom.”
Doors will open at 8 pm with a 2 hour Skank mix, then Zion and his band will take the stage from 10 til 11:30. After a 30 minute break, they will play again from midnight til 1:15. This is a show not to miss. Be there.
When it rains, it pours. Lots of crucial reggae shows coming to town starting this Wednesday, March 2nd, all at 2720 Cherokee.
That’s when the Meditations play as part of the club’s “Reggae Wednesdays.”
March 9th is Zion and the Lion Roots Band. 16th is the Itals. 23rd is local band Aaron Kamm and the One Drops. 30th is Sister Carol. Then on April 20th, the return of Ossie Dellimore and the Soldiers Of Justice.
Some great shows coming through town. Be there.
