Announcing the KDHX YouTube Channel
The Magnolia Avenue Studios of KDHX have been humming with some amazing performers. Just this Fall, White Rabbits, Elvis Perkins in Dearland, Peter Yarrow, Jason Isbell, Lou Barlow, Joe Pug and the Bottle Rockets have all performed live, exclusive sets for 88.1.
And now we’ve got videos — in HD, to be exact.
Check out the KDHX YouTube Channel for recordings of all those artists (and dozens more). Subscribe to the feed or become a friend, and never miss a single upload. There’s lots more video to come.
Slideshow: Drive-By Truckers @ the Pageant
My review at A to Z suggests I had a less than awesome time at the Drive-By Truckers this Saturday; in truth, I enjoyed the set, especially the second half, but felt that the band was just on cruise control. If you saw them last year at the same Pageant, you’ll instantly recognize the difference I tried to articulate.
But here are some photos from the night. If you went, what was your take?
Drive-By Truckers Show Postponed
KDHX programmer and A to Z blogger Annie Zaleski has the somewhat bad news that the DBTs won’t be at the Pageant this Thursday; however, the show has been rescheduled for a weekend in late March. Details here.
In the meantime, here’s a shaky video from last year’s gig at the Pageant….
Breaking: New Booker T. Jones Album due out in April

If you ever wondered who the most played artist on KDHX 88.1 FM is, and we’re talking most played ever, you could do worse than guess Booker T. Jones. The master of the Hammond B3 (and no slouch on the guitar) is a founding father of soul and funk, and the go-to-choice for a music bed. Jones entered the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1992, but he hasn’t made a studio album in about 20 years. But courtesy of Anti- Records, a new album, Potato Hole, arrives on April 21, 2009. The record features backing by the Drive-By Truckers and guitar by some dude named Neil Young. Have to look that last one up. That couldn’t possibly be Shakey himself, as that would make this new album the greatest thing in the known universe.
