Description

Start your chainsaws, St. Louis! KDHX is gearing up for Art Attack 3, a unique art competition and destructo-auction unlike any other, featuring 32 of St. Louis' best artists, and benefitting 88.1 KDHX.

Art Attack is a single elimination tournament consisting of five rounds in which pairs of paintings will compete head-to-head. Audience response to each painting will be measured by an Applause-O-Meter, with the piece receiving the most applause progressing to the next round.

The artists have all received a 24x30 canvas from KDHX on which to create an auction-worthy piece of art ... but there's one catch.

Losing works of art face a perilous future in front of the Wheel of Misfortune. This large wheel includes multiple diabolical and imaginative ways of destroying the losing piece. Hugged to death by a Care(lessness) Bear? Chopped in half by a karate master? Torn asunder by a buzz saw?

The wheel decides their fate, unless the audience saves the piece by bidding on it! If the minimum is not reached, the piece will meet its demise without delay (cue bowel-shaking thunder and lightning).

The excitement will continue throughout five nerve-rattling rounds until the final winner is announced. The creator of the winning piece will win $1,000 cash as well as the comfort of knowing that their art will live to see another day.

The competition will be held on Friday, November 18 at NEO on 2801 Locust Ave, at 7 p.m. Advance tickets are available for purchase online for $15, or at the door the night of the event. And be sure to keep an eye on KDHX.org for a look at all of the paintings prior to the event.
