Description

In anticipation of Lemp Neighborhood Arts Center’s 20th anniversary next month, we present a gala event with the Nakatani Gong Orchestra on Dec. 20, 2013, 8 PM.

With countless collaborations between jazz and new-music greats including Eugene Chadbourne, Jack Wright, Frank Gratkowski, Michel Doneda, and St. Louis’s own Darin Grey, and numerous performances at LNAC, the Nakatani Gong Orchestra is one of Tatsuya Nakatani’s most innonative projects. Composed of 10 musicians from the area who are coached on Nakatani's percussion and conducting techniques, Nakatani and the NGO will produce an improvised performance demonstrating the versatility of the gong as an expressive instrument.
