Description

The intersection of Grand and Washington serves as the heart of Grand Center and is the location of Strauss Park. During the summer and early fall, a concert series takes place on Thursday evenings in the park from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

This annual music series is a collaboration between Grand Center, Inc. and 88.1 KDHX. Visitors are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs and a picnic if they choose. Edibles will also be available for purchase from the patio of Kota Wood Fire Grill.

The 2012 Thursdays @ The Intersection concert series presented by PNC Arts Alive in partnership with 88.1 KDHX and Grand Center, Inc. begins on June 21 and will occur weekly through October 4. The June 21 preview of Thursdays @ the Intersection coincides with the opening of St. Lou Fringe, a showcase of local artists and their work, including performing arts, film and visual arts. The first six weeks of the 2012 lineup includes:

July 12 - Folk School of Saint Louis Showcase, presenting a mix of bluegrass, old time, jazz, swing and folk.

July 19 – Dive Poets

July 26 - Miss Jubilee and the Humdingers, a mix of vocals, drums, piano, bass, and a baritone sax combine for a bluesy-swing performance.

An addition this year includes a commemorative Thursdays @ The Intersection poster and passport designed by the Firecracker Press on Cherokee Street. The passport system includes a drawing at the end of the season for prizes including an iPad, a bike, Grand Center “Art and Life” t-shirts and KDHX t-shirts. Every five stamps on the Thursdays @ The Intersection passport equals one entry into the drawing. Passports are available onsite at Thursdays @ The Intersection. Certain restrictions may apply.
