Bonsack Gallery Biennial Faculty Exhibit

The John Burroughs School fine arts faculty, all of whom are practicing artists, will exhibit their work in a mixed media show in the Bonsack Gallery from August 24 through October 9. The opening reception is from 5:30 to 7:30 pm on Friday, August 24 in the gallery. The exhibit is free and open to the public.

Donya Allison will show two distinct bodies of work. The first is a series of black and white wash drawings created during a residency at the Bogliasco Foundation in Bogliasco, Italy. The second is a series of photographs inspired by 17th-century Dutch still life paintings.

Ashley Oates will exhibit drawings and photograms (contact prints made using an early “camera-less” photography technique) from a new series titled The Hürtgen Forest, Rabbit Edgerton, and the stories we tell.

Mike Gesiakowski will show recent sculptural pieces that investigate the process of physical and cognitive degradation by using the construct of architecture to question our perceptions of memory.

Jessica Lynn Hunt will show new 3-D pieces on the theme of the domestic, created with materials including chicken wire, polyester stuffing and Kozo rice paper.

Andrew Newman will exhibit black and white photographs from his cloud series, which plays with the ideas of impermanence and how we perceive clouds based on who we are and what we have seen.
