Roped In

Roped-In is an explorative compendium of movement and emotion while attached to a rope.  Throughout the 6 different original pieces performers will climb, swing, hang, spin and dance: across the floor, through the air and even on the wall. Suspension can give a sense of flying freely in the air. At the same time, attachment to a rope can be restrictive and confining. Through a mix of physical theatre, dance and clown techniques, these performers exploit the properties of a rope to express both the difficulties and the state of freedom, beauty and happiness that can come from a place of restraint.

Roped-In is the creative result of intense collaboration between Kinetic Tapestry’s husband and wife team of Jaime Zayas and Vanessa Waggoner-Zayas with significant contributions from the talented dancing artists Sarah Svoboda and Mary Virtue. Jaime and Vanessa have been creating movement work together for 9 years and they present this full-on foray into the realm of rope work with humble anticipation.
