Artica

Sing! Dance! Create!

Artists, musicians, poets, performers and all creative citizens are invited to submit project proposals for Artica 2017: ARTIKINETIC ENTANGLEMENT. Artica is a multi-media, outdoor participatory arts festival developed to provide St. Louis with the opportunity to come together as a community through creative expression. Artica’s philosophy is one of openness and inclusion. All are welcome to create, participate and celebrate on this sacred heritage site.

ARTIKINETIC ENTANGLEMENT
Thanks to its fortuitous home at the crossing of the America's two Big Rivers, we've all had a lifetime of easily spotting St Louis on maps...and, every one of them has lied to us.

Maps would have us believe that junction point unimportant--55 crosses 70, and each continues unimpeded towards its furthest reaches. According to maps, our Rivers do the same: intersect then forever extend unchanged.

But, we know that's not how fluid bodies behave, that's not how intersections really happen. There are mutual feedings and takings and churnings and eddyings. There is Entanglement.

ARTICA 2017, ARTIKINETIC ENTANGLEMENT, challenges every one of those misleading maps. It will be a celebration of our creative intersections, our mutual eddyings, the traces of one another we can't help but walk away with once our time together has happened.
