Ken Haller's Medicine Show

Ken Haller’s The Medicine Show peddles miracle cures compounded by Jason Robert Brown, Adam Guettel, Stephen Sondheim and other noted practitioners of the healing arts. In song and story, Ken shows us how becoming a doctor is just the first step in becoming a healer.

Ken Haller is a renowned cabaret singer based in St. Louis. He performed his first original cabaret, “Song by Song by Sondheim” in June 2009 and reprised it multiple times to sold out audiences. This was followed by “The TV Show” in 2012 and “Mama’s Boy” in 2014. Ken has also performed his shows at Don’t Tell Mama in New York, Davenport’s in Chicago, and Feinstein’s at the Nikko in San Francisco. He was named Best St. Louis Cabaret Performer in the 2015 GO! List in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Ken is also a professor of pediatrics at the Saint Louis University School of Medicine and Cardinal Glennon Chidren’s Hospital. In addition to caring for patients and teaching the art of medicine to students and residents in clinical settings, Ken teaches an elective course for first year medical students called “Acting Like a Doctor” about how to use the principles of improvisational theater to be a more compassionate physician. Ken’s latest cabaret, which premiered in 2016, is “The Medicine Show.” This 65-minute show is a collection of songs and stories about becoming a doctor – and the realization that this was only the first step toward becoming a healer.
