East St. Louis History Tour

SIUE Professor Andrew Theising and the St. Clair County Historical Society have partnered to offer a historical walking tour of Mt. Hope Cemetery (9401 W. Main, Belleville) on Saturday, July 29th at 10:00 A.M.

The cemetery holds the final resting places of many fascinating people from the early history of East St. Louis.  Prof. Theising will lead the tour, which will focus on the lives of fifteen of these remarkable individuals.

Mt. Hope, founded in 1897, holds the graves of several East St. Louis mayors, business leaders, military figures, and other historical characters.
