Mary Jo Bang: Self-Portrait with Others
Please join us in celebrating Washington University English professor and esteemed poet Mary Jo Bang, author of eight books of poetry, the most recent of which is A Doll for Throwing (Graywolf Press, 2017). She has won numerous awards and fellowships, including a National Book Critics Circle Award, a Hodder Fellowship from Princeton University, a grant from the Guggenheim Foundation, and a Berlin Prize fellowship at the American Academy in Berlin. Her literary papers are now part of the Modern Literature Collection, and include correspondence, drafts, photographs, journals and other materials that give insight into the life, mind and talent of this American literary treasure.
3-5 p.m. Talks at John M. Olin Library in Room 142 followed by a tour of manuscripts in the Mendle Room
5-7 p.m. Reception and readings in the Women’s Building Formal Lounge
