Annie and the Fur Trappers at the Stellar Hog

Annie and the Fur Trappers is a traditional jazz band based out of St. Louis, Missouri. The band’s mission is to keep the music and spirit of the 1920s and 30s alive in St. Louis and beyond. Drawing upon influences from St. Louis, Memphis, and New Orleans, the band incorporates the blues, ragtime, and brass band music within the context of traditional jazz. Annie and the Fur Trappers studies traditional recordings from artists such as Singelton Palmer, Bunk Johnson, Bix Beiderbecke, and Lonnie Johnson, and recreates the music with local musicians today. Annie and the Fur Trappers has a wide variety of instrumentation, including tuba, cornet, trombone, clarinet, saxophone, piano, washboard, and banjo. The band gives local musicians more opportunities to play the music that made St. Louis what it is today.
