The digital revolution in filmmaking has caused a lot of changes within the past few years and cinematographers have had to adapt as more productions and studios abandon film for digital.

 

However, not everything has been turned on its head. The tools may have changed but the fundamentals of cinematography remain the same. Cinematographer Chris Benson will lead a KDHX Master Filmmaking Class on the state of cinematography today.
 
Benson will demonstrate use of the RED camera.

Chris Benson has served as Director of Photography on a multitude of films, commercials, music videos, and documentaries. In 1999 his first 35mm feature film Hairdo U brought him attention from producers in Los Angeles allowing him to shoot such feature films as The Family Mancuso, Showdown at Area 51 for the Sci-fi Channel, Ghost Image on Showtime, the comedy Say Goodnight, and The Tomb as well as shooting 2nd Unit/Additional Photography for such films as Alice Upside Down, Saving Grace, Saving Shiloh, Killshot, Last Will and the Oscar nominated film Up In The Air. Benson has also shot Music Videos for iconic characters such as Nelly, Chingy, Richard Marx, Murphy Lee, Lil Wil, and Yo Gotti. He is a member of the Local 600, International Cinematographers Guild.
