The National Film Challenge, the KDHX-produced sister project of the 48 Hour Film Project is back again. And we've got great news for both seasoned pros and first-timers: 2011 is your year to go nuts.

Whether you've lived the National Film Challenge experience, or have always wanted to get in on the action, there's no better time than now to grab your camera and to jump in headfirst. You're going to surprise yourself with what you come up with.

We give you three days (October 21-24, 2011) to write, shoot, and edit a short film. You'll even receive a character, prop, line of dialogue and genre to incorporate into your movie. And by the end of this seat-of-your pants, frenzied filmmaking fun with your friends, you'll be able to say something most never will-"I made a movie for a national audience."

In the following weeks the top films (determined by a national panel of judges) will be available for viewing (and voting!) on the Film Challenge website.

Bragging rights and sense of accomplishment aside, you may even win a little money in the process. There's a cash prize for the winning film and the Best Film and Audience Award winners will screen with the 48 Hour Film Project City Winners at the next Filmapalooza at Taos Shortz Film Festival.

Everyone is welcome, auteur and amateur alike, all over the world. Just call up your friends, register online and show us how down-and-dirty, creative filmmaking is done in your neck of the woods. The National Film Challenge is on!
