Media Arts Overview

filmmaker-resources.gifKDHX Media Arts Programs offers a variety of resources to film, video and media makers. Our goal is to develop, encourage and otherwise support the growth of independent media arts in St. Louis and beyond by providing the access, training and environment needed to support the creative vision of media artists. At KDHX, we believe that a stronger media arts community can be built through four crucial ways: resources, exposure, community and education. Each component of the initiative has been developed to foster these concepts. KDHX Media Arts Programs are supported in-part by the Regional Arts Commission and the Missouri Arts Council , a state agency.


 
Filmmaking Competitions

KDHX Media Arts hosts several timed filmmaking competitions throughout the year. Filmmaking teams come together and have only a short time to produce a movie from scratch. The finished films are eligible for awards and cash prizes and the winners are screened theatrically in some of the world's leading film festivals. Doc Challenge Registration Now Open

Filmmaking Workshop with Kristian Fraga on Nov 21

Fraga's new film Severe Clear has received rave reviews; the director explored all aspects of documentary making, including distribution and navigating the festival circuit.

48 Hour Film Project Winners

Kranzberg Arts Center
KDHX and Grand Center presented "Grand Center Shorts," a film invitational where five Saint Louis directors were asked to create four-to-seven minute films using the Grand Center district as a backdrop. Doc Challenge Film on P.O.V.
