Led by young guitarist, singer and songwriter Joe Lewis, the band hung around the indie-rock side of the Austin tracks for years before breaking nationally with Tell 'Em What Your Name Is! and this year's Scandalous. Fusing Guns 'n' Roses guitar riffs with Exile-era Stones horns and a big, mean beat that defines what some people call "garage soul," Black Joe and the Honeybears have won prime spots at summer festivals like Coachella and Bonnaroo, and recently packed the Off Broadway night club in St. Louis. This Live at KDHX session presents the band in all its ragged rock & blues glory.
