Psychedelic twang and irreverent lyricism find common ground in this collaboration between Blue Giant and Bobby Bare Jr. The band is currently backing up the Nashville outsider on tour; when the two forces meet the country rock sparks fly.

Bobby Bare Jr. has had pretty full dance card in 2010. He produced the long overdue and wide-ranging tribute to Shel Silverstein, a close friend of his father's and one of the son's favorite songwriters. Twistable, Turnable Man: A Musical Tribute to the Songs of Shel Silverstein features artists such as Kris Kristofferson, Ray Price, John Prine and Andrew Bird. And in the fall of 2010, Bare Jr. released his 4th studio album, A Storm, a Tree, My Mother's Head on the Thirty Tigers label. On it, he explores his recent relationship travails, does some songwriting with his dad and cuts loose his inimitable combination of dark humor and lyrical sweetness.

Blue Giant is a relatively new band with a timeless Americana sound. Featuring members of Portland's Viva Voce, the Golden Bears and Swords, the group's 2010 debut sounds a bit like the Byrds filtered through Okkervil River.
