Rodriguez brings an easy style to her work. She has a mellow yet sultry twang underpinning her music that adds dimension to what would otherwise be a straightforward alt-country sound. Although Rodriguez is an experienced musician, she is young and her songcraft exhibits a maturing, but not quite hardened sensibility, at least not by country-western standards.

At times, her pieces strain a bit at the seams, yearning for emotionality. Lovely arrangements -- utilizing Rodriguez’s fiddling -- provide a grounding framework within which even tentative lyrical forays feel more expansive. On her most recent outing with primarily original songs, "Give Me All You Got," Rodriguez displays clear-eyed yet never-jaded expressions of love in its most ambiguous states.
