DJ Mahf (Dan Mahfood) and MC Mathias (Matt Fournier) visited the Magnolia Studios to demonstrate that in St. Louis independent hip hop is alive and bobbing to the beat.

In 2004, DJ Mahf helped Kansas City MC Steddy P. found the Kansas City-based Indyground Entertainment, and since then the label has produced dozens of albums from several hip-hop artists from Lawrence, Ks. to St. Louis. In addition to a constant array of weekly appearances around St. Louis and an arsenal of mixtapes and albums, DJ Mahf has twice been awarded the title Best Hip-Hop DJ by the Riverfront Times, named the St. Louis 2010 Red Bull Thre3style champion (finishing 4th nationally) and performed as a member of local hip-hop crew, Earthworms.

Earthworms also included Mathias, who has added a solo album, "Devils, Pirates, & Rebels" (Indyground), to a resume that already includes other projects such as Shotgun Lucy, Jive Turkey, Art Thugs, and Core Project. He's become a staple of the St. Louis hip-hop community and beyond. A new video for the song, "Daly City Train" just premiered on November 7, 2011.

DJ Mahf and MC Mathias performed as part of "Indyground All Day," on Saturday, November 12 at Cicero's.
