Elephant Revival's sound, at times described as "transcendental folk," is haunting and beautiful, serious and comforting.

The five members of the band, all talented and playing a multitude of instruments, formed in Nederland, Colo. in 2006 and have recorded four albums since, starting with their eponymously titled release in 2008. Their latest album, "These Changing Skies," released in 2013, is the source of two of the songs in this set.

"Remembering a Beginning" features a clipped, almost metallic backdrop set against vocals that are deep and round. The smoothness of the violin provides a nice contrast to the clipped strums of the guitar and short drum hits.

"Birds and Stars" gives the listener different vocals and subtler instrumentation. The song evoked images of lovers who are separated but looking for each other and the pain in that process.

"Ring Around the Moon" rounds out the trilogy with a vocal duet of two wonderfully matched husky voices. The song starts out with an almost eerie whistling the feels like wind rushing over forsaken land.

These three tracks will give you just a taste of the essay writing sincere feeling behind Elephant Revival's music and will leave you wanting more.
