With a mammoth sound and the uncanny ability to breathe new life into acoustic music, Elephant Revival couldn’t have picked a better name to describe its blend of old and new world sounds.

The Nederland, Colorado-based band could be described as a string quintet based on the instruments it employs, but calling the band such would be misleading. Combining diverse styles from across the globe, you might hear echoes of Kentucky bluegrass and Celtic fiddle swirling around in the background of an Appalachian style ballad in one tune and shades of Texas swing and '70s folk in another.

Every member of the band is a multi-instrumentalist, changing between the same basic instruments to bring out new sounds with each song. The vocal styling is just as varied as the instrumentals, which carry hints of everything from the country and western of Hank Williams Sr. to the folk pop of Joni Mitchell. Elephant Revival is presently on the road playing its genre-defying brand of acoustic music to support the new album Break in the Clouds.
