About this Media...

  • Date Recorded: October 1, 2011
  • Artist / Band: Ellis Paul
  • Hosting Show: Musical Merry-Go-Round
  • Sound: Aaron Ruby

After 20 years of songwriting and touring, you'd think Ellis Paul would be ready to take some time off and just enjoy his success. Not so. He's still got songs and miles to burn.

The Boston-based songwriter launches into this exclusive Live at KDHX session with perhaps his fiercest political song, "Chief Joseph," a moving evocation of Native American pride and justice. "The Swing Song" shows the other side of Paul -- the expert children's performer, who can yet make a playful song appeal to adults -- while the "Hero in You," with its Dylanesque harmonica, fleet rhyming and almost Celtic melody, delivers a hopeful, inspiring message, as only Paul can.
