About this Media...

  • Date Recorded: December 20, 2011
  • Artist / Band: Fresh Heir
  • Hosting Show: The Rhythm Section
  • Sound: Dan Kinney

Fresh Heir doesn't play the groove too retro. With nods to John Legend and Maroon 5, the band's sound is truly fresh and contemporary.

Led by drummer and singer Nick Savage and trumpeter and vocalist Desmond Alexander, the veteran band nearly stole the show at Higher Ground: A Tribute to Stevie Wonder in September 2011, and continues to perform regularly around St. Louis. This Live at KDHX spotlights the group's serious instrumental skills, from crisp horn charts to psychedelic guitar impressions. Wherever and in whatever context they perform, Fresh Heir's open-minded take on funk, soul, jazz, ska and rock is never in doubt.
