  • Artist / Band: Frightened Rabbit
  • Hosting Show: Coin-Operated Radio
  • Sound: Jon Valley

Between bathos and pathos, soul and smarts, rock and folk, the songs and sound of Frightened Rabbit have a tendency to get inside your head and never leave. That's what great pop music does, and the band illustrates the axiom during a live session at KDHX.

Led by songwriter, singer and guitarist Scott Hutchison, Frightened Rabbit emerged out of the small town of Selkirk in Scotland, and seemed to make a point of distancing itself from its better known peers Franz Ferdinand and Travis. With 2010's Winter of Mixed Drinks, Hutchison and friends crafted a direct, low-frills, guitars- and keyboards-based rock album of semi-fictional songs that reveal desperation and escape as the defining experiences of every human life. The band appeared at a sold-out show at the Old Rock House on May 7, 2010.
