With rhythmic, chunky guitar licks and braying vocal meandering, Gold brought its brand of choppy Chicago rock to St. Louis for a live session at KDHX.

Vaguely reminiscent of last decade's grunge movement, Gold's music features an enduring feeling of forward motion and power chords aplenty. Given to extended sections of distorted jamming, the tracks momentarily stray from their centers before triumphantly returning to themes rooted in catchy hooks and straightforward grooves. After the session, the band played at Mangia Italiano on June 23, 2009 with the Pat Sajak Assassins.
