The Honey Island Swamp Band shoots the gap between roots rock and blues, finding themselves somewhere in the middle stylistically. Their rhythmic guitars often send them in the direction of rock music, while sensitive lyrics of love and a taste of the harmonica can point towards the blues. The band is made up of Aaron Wilkinson (acoustic guitar, mandolin, vocals), Chris Mulé (electric guitar, vocals), Sam Price (bass, vocals), Garland Paul (drums, vocals) and Trevor Brooks (keyboards).
HISB came together after Katrina devastated New Orleans. Forced to relocate, the four musicians met up in San Francisco where they all found refuge. Having previously known each other from common bands back home they decided to form HISB. They eventually moved back to New Orleans in 2007 where they have continued to record music.
Their first full-length album "Wishing Well" was released in 2009. HISB’s debut album would go on to be crowned 2009's "Best Blues Album" by OffBeat Magazine. Their most recent release, 2010's "Good To You" has followed the award-winning suit, this time winning in the category of "Roots Rock" instead. HISB is currently touring the United States, with a stop in St. Louis at the Broadway Oyster Bar on September 8.
