Nashville's hot new item, Humming House, harnesses Americana and throwback folk-pop to reinvent tradition.

Streaming Audio

Helmed by lead singer and guitarist Justin Wade Tam, Humming House proffers a rustically playful, eclectic sound, one that mixes disparate genres from a diverse palate of influences—-such as Irish, country, bluegrass, pop, folk and big band—into a bundle of rollicking tunes that refuse to quit the mind.

Supported by an impressive cast of musicians, including the golden pipes of soulful singer Kristen Rogers, the wild frenzy of mandolin player Josh Wolak, and the rockabilly, electric guitar (and fiddle) of Mike Butera, Humming House's self-titled debut record, produced and recorded by Vance Powell and Mitch Dane, is a thing of folk-pop mastery. An amazing blender, one moment the record embraces a traveling guitar in "Cold Chicago," and the next pays tribute to Django Reinhardt in "Gypsy Django."

Don't be scared off by Humming House's newness. Tam and company possess righteous old souls steeped in bucolic America and Europe, which directly inform their subversion of traditional music and their lively spirit.
