Over the years, Ian Walsh and Kevin Buckley have developed reputations as young maestros of Irish music. But as their recent duo album Keeping It Reel makes plain, they've got more than tradition up their sleeves.

Regulars at McGurk's Irish Pub in the Soulard district of St. Louis, Walsh and Buckley have sharpened their chops on fiddle, guitar, mandolin, bodhran and more for a tight and dextrous sound. From Venezuelan waltzes to blazing Tony Rice instumentals to set dances to folk songs to reels slow and fast, the two shift gears easily, and through the skipping rhythms and ageless melodies you always hear spirit and knowing smiles.
