Of all the cover bands in St. Louis, Jake's Leg is surely among the most faithful. They're as close to the Dead as you'll get without a time machine.

For this Live at KDHX session, Jake's Leg turns to some covers of Dead covers: "Wild Horses" (originally by the Rolling Stones) and "You Ain't Going Nowhere" (originally by Bob Dylan). But it wouldn't be a Jake's Leg performance without a classic Dead tune: "Friend of the Devil," with its close harmonies and piano, sounds especially sweet in this unplugged setting.

Jake's Leg celebrates its 35th Anniversary at the Pageant with a show on November 23, 2011.
