Jeremy Messersmith has a sweet, sweet voice which is complimented perfectly by understated and simple acoustic guitar.

Messersmith, who has released four previous albums, came to the KDHX studios to preview four songs from his new album "Heart Murmurs."

"It's Only Dancing" evokes familiar mental images: the nervousness and excitement of young love, the joy of connecting, and the pain of seeing the one you love with another. The guitar pushes you toward the emotional climax of the song which seems like it should be sad, but for some reason isn't.

"Ghost" and "Steve" are examples of great writing. If you're a lyrics person, these songs will make you smile and will bounce around your brain for the rest of the day.

Finally, "I Want to Be Your One Night Stand" is funny yet melancholy. As Messersmith sends earnest melodies into the air about making love under the vacancy sign, a little laugh might rise up in your throat.

Messersmith's style and voice are so sweet as to compel a closer listen.
