Since her last album in 2001, Hogan's busied herself most notably as Neko Case's backing vocalist, and with a manic schedule within Chicago's music scene that has included stints with Andrew Bird, the Waco Brothers and Drive-By Truckers, while also tending bar at the Hideout.
Her solo re-emergence with new album "I Like to Keep Myself in Pain" coincides with her headlining appearance at Twangfest 16. An all-star collection of songwriters that she's supported through the years gave her their most Hogan-esque compositions, ranging from the poppy punk of Jon Langford to the country melancholy of the late Vic Chesnutt. Hogan brings them all together with her stellar voice that gives boss Neko a run for her torchy, emotive money.
