About this Media...

  • Date Recorded: Decemeber 2, 2011
  • Artist / Band: Kinky Friedman
  • Hosting Show: Songwriters Showcase
  • Sound: Jon Valley

As a humorist, storyteller, songwriter, satirist and all-around troublemaker, Kinky Friedman is a true American original.

Starting with his first recordings in the early '70s, Friedman was politically incorrect before political incorrectness was cool and the culture wars were little more than a barroom scuffle. He's gone on to write many a beloved detective novel and run, unsuccessfully, as an independent candidate for governor in Texas. Over the decades, he's remained a dedicated animal rights advocate and a hilarious critic of political and religious fundamentalism.
