There's really nothing little about the St. Louis quartet, with scratchy guitars and thumping drums coming hard in all five of the songs played during this Live at KDHX studio session.
Crediting Pixies, Sonic Youth and Velvet Underground as some of their biggest influences, the band has been making grunge rock in and around St. Louis since 2010. Three of the band's four members, Ryan Macias, Lucy Dougherty and Eric Boschen, rotate between lead vocals, guitar and bass, while drummer Drew Growran sits back on drums.
It's hard to describe a band whose foundation and sound changes with each track. The opening vocals of "I Don't Wanna Talk About It" give off strange hints of Beck, while "Armada" is your quintessential punk rock song with a repeating chorus and persistent guitar riffs. No one set up sounds better than the rest as Little Big Bangs pack a punch no matter no matter what instrument and vocal lineup is used for the song.
This studio session includes cuts from Little Big Bang's debut album, set to be released on Sept. 7. Hold on to your seats folks, because 13 minutes of noise rock are headed straight at you.
