The California-based artist blends raw, folky, layered acoustics with orchestral strings and dreamy, echoing vocals, providing a sound that is eloquent and uplifting with a light touch of vintage rock.
At the age of 12, while recovering from a skateboarding accident, Costa taught himself to play the guitar by mocking Nirvana records. By 2003 he had recorded his own homemade demo, which caught the attention of No Doubt guitarist Tom Dumont. That lead to the release of two DIY EPs, which Costa and Dumont produced and distributed.
In 2005, Costa signed with Brushfire Records, a Hawaii-based label co-founded by Jack Johnson with a roster that includes G. Love and Rogue Wave. Since then, he has released five independent albums along with three full-length records, all on Brushfire, the latest of which being a self-titled album released in 2012.
