Beginning with the raspy, emotional plea of "California," a song from Delta Spirit's 2012 self-titled (and third full-length) album, Vasquez channels his inner Dylan, all piston-powered strumming and harmonica. Alternatively, on "Empty House," also from "Delta Spirit," he sounds a little like a more world-weary but still fully wailing Springsteen. "How could one little speck make a difference to the rest?" he asks. The answer is in his torched voice and the bitter honesty of his story.
