That dream did not come true, but being bilingual here in the United States, where Spanish is not a foreign language, but a second language, suited his fallback plan: becoming an entertainer and educator for children. Growing up with famed children's author and illustrator, Karen Gundersheimer, as your mother didn't hurt a bit either.
But Gundersheimer didn't start there. He played in indie rock bands until the '90s, when he created a side project with his band mates and the experience hooked him. He loved the energy and curiosity of the younger audience and decided to change his direction in song writing and recording. Now, Mister G is one of the most celebrated family-friendly artists in the country, accessible to both English and Spanish speaking audiences.
The session here at KDHX includes "Pizza for Breakfast," from his album of the same name, plus "Bugs" and "Cocodrilo" from his 2011 release, "Bugs."
Gather the kids and have a listen. Fun is waiting.
