The electronic duo, which formed in London in 2008, has made quite the mark on the diverse and thriving electronic scene in the UK, and has just recently begun the North American leg of their 2013 world tour.
Kai Campos and Dom Maker have been credited as one of the groups to inspire the term "post-dubstep," which showcases a less chaotic and more ambient style of electronic music. Their 2010, debut album, "Crooks & Lovers," received numerous perfect scores from various publications including Vice Magazine and the Sun, and their second album, "Cold Spring Fault Less Youth," released in 2013, received similar praise. The band's selection for this live studio session featured an entire set from their latest release.
"Blood and Form" starts off with a droning, tribal drum beat and the subtle sounds of synth accenting the mysterious melancholy lyrics, with a dream-like break and distant guitar sounds adding a pleasant variety to the piece, culminating in a powerful finale. "Fall Out" is a fantastic instrumental piece, with a more upbeat and curious sound that takes the listener on a bit of a journey. Their final piece, "Home Recording," features the sounds of a dreary rainy day and a heavy vibe, perfect for a gray day and a cup of tea.
