A central figure in Monty Python's Flying Circus, the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band and the Rutles, Innes' views the world through with a withering, skewed sense of irony, especially when it comes to the cult of celebrity, and yet he's rarely ever misanthropic. Even his best known song, "I'm the Urban Spaceman," ends its satire with the exclamation "I don't exist!" Of course the spaceman is just a figment of our imagination, but the witty, curious and playful voice of Innes is very real indeed.
