They say that the musicians of New Orleans are really all part of a huge band and they break up into smaller groups from night to night. In 2012, the members of the New Orleans Suspects converged one night and have been making music together ever since. With one studio album and one live album under their belt, they're touring around the country, spreading their sounds to all that care to listen as they continue to work on a new studio album.
The band's KDHX performance kicks hard out the gate and provides the listener with that authentic funky sound ripened to perfection in the hot Louisiana sun.
"Soothe Me" demands to be turned up loud, with dirty slide guitar and fresh saxophone floating behind inspired lyrics that take you straight to a street performance on Bourbon Street. The second track, "Grits," has an opening that puts you in a marching band line and that continues on into a jam session including a soulful guitar and an exhilarating harpsichord standing out among the rest of the collaborative sounds.
This musical one-two punch is perfect for anyone looking for a brief escape from the winter blues of the Midwest into the saucy heat of the Big Easy.
