About this Media...

  • Date Recorded: November 21, 2010
  • Artist / Band: Pretty Little Empire
  • Hosting Show: Feel Like Going Home
  • Sound: Ryan Greenlee
  • Video: Ed Kleinberg

To follow up its modest, lo-fi debut, Pretty Little Empire revved up its rhythms and tuned up its harmonies, resulting in Reasons and Rooms, a second album that should expand its audience far beyond St. Louis.

Pretty Little Empire is Justin Johnson, Will Godfred, Wade Durbin and Evan O'Neal. All four members contribute vocals and swap instruments, keeping their dynamics on the freewheeling side of acoustic-driven indie rock, with songs that explore the emotional intricacies of relationships, sometimes with bitterness (as on "Dakotas") and sometimes with evocative sweetness (as on "Islands (NC)").

Pretty Little Empire holds a CD release party on November 27 at the Firebird.
