With three part harmonies floating lazily along the sweet breeze created by its four members, Pretty Little Empire creates music that somehow becomes more than just the sum of its parts.

Pretty Little Empire formed in 2008 and has been a mainstay of the local scene, playing around town while recording and releasing  "Sweet Sweet Hands" in 2009 and "Reasons and Rooms" in 2011. Justin Johnson's rhythm playing gallops along at a leisurely pace while William Godfred's leads run amongst the driving rhythm section of Wade Durbin's bass and Evan O'Neal's drumming. As good as the instrumentation is, the real attraction is the three part harmonies created by Johnson, Durbin and O'Neal.

Listening to a Pretty Little Empire song is like watching dandelion seeds float by in the breeze or seeing a leaf carried downstream. There is a sense of speed given by the driving beat and tempo of the music, but the vocals seem to drift along at their own leisurely pace, knowing that the journey will end when it ends and forcing the listener to enjoy the trip while it lasts.
